Even though I forgot the model's name, I do remember she made quite the interesting clown.

field

I love Jorge Gonzalez's work. The atmosphere, the subdued colors, the gorgeous rawness to his work puts me in awe....I did this tiny tribute.

Ghost Riders

The ghost rider on the spider (ghost sprider?) is a speed paint attempt. The legs could look a bit more metallic.

sketches

I should post more often. Here's some not-so-recent sketchbook doodles. The colored one is a lil' bit Moebius inspired.

star wars

Jedi assignment. My orginal idea was pretty straightforward, a cool-looking jedi taking down 2 robots; and I was set to go ahead on my half-ups. But my teacher said he wanted the robots to 'negotiate' with the stairs more. So I started from scratch, changed the jedi design, and made it cartoony.

This is a bit of an homage to Hiroyuki Imaishi. He is an animator, director, storyboard artist, and writer. I love the energy in his works. He was involved in 2 of my favorite anime shows, FLCL and Gurren Lagann. And if anyone out there is a little curious, I would also recommend checking out his film Dead Leaves, RE: Cutie Honey(ep1), Abenobashi(ep3,12), and Panty and Stocking(ep1,6).

life drawing

I told myself I wouldn't put up life drawing because who gives a crap about seeing life drawing on a blog. On the other hand I've seen blogs of illustrators that do, and they are very nice to look at...so I'm copying them.

I'm pleased with these given the time constraints every now and then, but they're still not at the level I'd like to reach. If only I had one more year (or two) of life drawing I'd be closer to where I want to be.

Not sure why I made the asian lady's ear (top) so big because it wasn't that big....I might post more in the near future.

story in less than 5 panels

We had to do a one page story in children's illustration class, all within 5 panels...and no words. I cheated but I didn't care because...because I just don't care...

And my children's illustration teacher is Dusan Petricic, he is a freaking good illustrator and I can only dream of being as good as him one day.

And the story is The Boy Who Cried Wolf.
